DIY Shaped Cushion with Punch Needle / Almohadón con Punch Needle

It's been a while since I do something with the punch needle and I notice I could use the same technique to do some shaped cushion which I though it will look really fun in the sofa. So here is the tutorial :)

Hace mucho tiempo usé la aguja punch para hacer una alfombra y ahora me di cuenta que se puede usar la misma técnica para hacer almohadones con diferentes formas! Así que va el tutorial de como lo hice:

The materials I use were:

- Wool

- Punch Needle

- Linen, for the back of the cushion

- Burlap, where I did the design

- Glue

- Thread and needle

- Polyester Fiberfill

Los materiales que use fueron:

- Lana

- Lienzo para la parte de atrás del almohadón

- Arpillera, donde bordé el diseño, he visto que usan una tela que tiene agujeros más chiquitos pero no se como se llama, si la conocen me dicen?

- Hilo y aguja

- Plasticola, después me enteré que es mejor usar Fortex

- Vellón siliconado

I draw the design in the burlap and start to embroider with the punch needle. The technique is really simple and you can find many tutorials in youtube.

Hice el diseño que quería con un marcador sobre la arpillera y empecé a bordar con la aguja. Hay un montón de videos en youtube de punch needle si nunca la usaron, es super sencillo en verdad.

When I finish the embroidery I apply glue on the back to secure the wool. Is extremely fast to the embroidery with this needle, I took my around 2 days to finish this.

Cuando terminen de bordar su diseño, lo dan vuelta y le aplican plásticola para asegurar el diseño. Como dije arriba si tienen Fortex mejor, y lo pueden diluir un poco con agua para que no quede tan dura la tela.

Next step is to cut a piece of cloth with the same shape of your design. I sewed by hand because I dont have a sewing machine, it took a while but it was doable. At the same time I was sewing I start adding the polyester fiberfill.

If you have more advance sewing skills I think this is not the best way because it will be really hard to wash. It would had been great to be able to add a zip were I can take the polyester out.

Lo siguiente que hice fue cortar el excedente de arpillera para que me quede solo un borde de unos 3cm, después corte la misma forma en el lienzo. Y empecé a coser todo a mano porque no tengo maquina de coser. A la vez que cosía le iba poniendo el vellón siliconado.

Si tienen mejoras habilidades de costura que la mía, creo que esta no es la mejor forma de hacerlo porque después va a ser muy difícil lavarlo. Si pueden pónganle un cierre para poder sacar el vellón.
