Hace unos meses cuando fue la temporada de mandarinas, estaba obsesionada con un tutorial de internet que explicaba como hacer una vela de una mandarina!! Y se me ocurrió adaptar esa idea para Halloween y esto es lo que resultó:
A few month ago, when it was tangerine season, I was obsessed making tangarine candles! and I though of making one for Halloween and this is how in turn out to be:
Los elementos que van a necesitar son bastante sencillos, una mandarina, un cuchillo y yo utilice un pela naranja/mandarina (en verdad no se como se llama...) pero no es necesario con un cuchillo basta, y lo que me falto poner en la foto es aceite!!
The supplies you will need are really simple: a tangerine (duh...) , a fruit knife, and I used a tangerine peeler, but is not neccesary because with the knife is ok, and something I forgot in the photo is the oil!!
Acá les muestro los pasos básicos para que hagan su vela (son los mismo aunque no sea de Halloween)
Here are the basic step to make a regular tangerine candle!
Primero empiezan a cortar la cascara, de tal manera que queden dos partes iguales
Cut through the skin of the tangerine in a way you get to equal parts
Después sacan un lado primero, no saquen todo junto!! les tiene que quedar así:
Firt peel off the skin of the top really carefully, dont peel it off all together!!
Y después van sacando la mandarina de a gajitos para que les quede el pabilo para la vela intacto, si lo sacan la mandarina todo de una no les va a quedar el pabilo...
Once you have it like this, start taking off the tangerine skin really carefully in a way you preserve the "white stuff extending from the middle of the skin", this will be the wick for the candle
Si quieren pueden dejar la vela en este paso y les queda una vela normal... (la llenan con aceite del lado del pabilo sin taparlo, claro... y recuerden hacerle un agujerito a la tapa del otro lado sino se les va quemar...)
Pero como estasmos cerca de Halloween les vamos a hacer carita :D
There you have a regular tangerine candle! but remember to make a little hole in the top if not it will burn... Once you have it like this you put some oil in the skin with the wick, but not too much.
But you are only two steps for a super fun Halloween clementine!!
Dibujamos y cortamos con el cuchillo, fijense de que la boquita no este muy abajo sino se les va a salir el aceite por ahi... Les tiene que quedar así:
Draw a face and cut it carefully with the knife, make sure the mouth is not to low if not the oil will spill through there...
Rellenan con aceite y tienen la velita lista!
NOTA: si es su primera vez haciendo una vela con mandarina, no desespereis!! yo tube que hacer como tres intento hasta que me salio pelarla para que me quede el pabilo!! es práctica no más! así que a comer mandarinas se ha dicho!!
Finally fill with oil and is ready!!
NOTE: if it is the first time making a tangerine candle, be patience!! I took me like three times to get the wick when peeling the tangerine!!
